How is Switchselect.com a free service?
To enable Switchselect.com to remain a free service we have commercial agreements with numerous energy retailers in Australia. When a customer chooses to switch their energy bill or apply for a new contract through us, we receive a small administration fee. The comparison tool and the ranking of offers from suppliers remains completely impartial and is not affected by our commercial relationships.

Who deals with the Retailers?
When you compare and switch with Switchselect.com we will contact the new retailer on your behalf. They will then begin the switching process by contacting your old supplier.

What about government rebates or concessions?
If you are entitled to any rebates or concessions this will not change. Just let your new supplier know when you complete the application to switch and your new supplier will arrange it for you. Eligible concession holders, who satisfy the conditions will have their reductions applied to their energy bills.

Will I be cut off at any point?
No. Nothing changes with the generation, distribution or supply of your electricity or gas. The only change to affect you is the company giving you the final bill, and of course how much you pay.

What details do I need to switch?
The details you require are very basic. Your post code, current supplier and usage details. If you have a recent energy bill you will be able to receive a more accurate comparison. If not you can still enjoy the benefits of using Switchselect.com, we will just use our usage estimator to provide you with the comparison.

Why do you need my usage and supply details?
Switchselect.com asks these questions to get an idea about your energy usage, so we can provide the most accurate results possible.

Can I search for gas or electricity only?
Yes. Switchselect.com can compare your electricity or your gas, or both. It's your choice!

Can I search for green energy?
Yes. Many energy companies offer a range of deals with various amounts of GreenPower accredited energy. Switchselect.com will compare all of these options for you.

Will I be without supply during the switch?
No, everything in regards to supply stays the same. So that's the same gas, the same electricity, the same pipes, wires and meters. At no stage during the switching process will you be without electricity or gas.

Will I be breaking a contract with my current supplier?
If you have never changed supplier, you will not be on a contract and can change straight away. If you have previously agreed to another contract you will have to check with your current supplier about any cancellation or termination fees. Remember the saving you can make by switching suppliers is often much greater than termination fees.

So what changes?
The only change you will have is your bill will come from the supplier of your choice, and of course you save money.

What about GST?
All of the results shown on Switchselect.com are shown including GST. All product information statements display both GST inclusive and exclusive prices, just as shown on your energy bill.
