So who is my electricity supplier and who can I choose?

Well that really depends on where your property is situated. Across many states of Australia the government has introduced deregulation, which in simple terms means you can choose who and where you by your electricity and gas from.

Once all the jargon and complex myths have been removed it really comes down to who you want to pay on a monthly or quarterly basis for your electricity.

Now it doesn’t matter whether you are living in a property or you are moving to a property you can usually decide who charges you for electricity.

If you are about to move into a property it is best to decide who you want to supply your electricity at least three business days before you move in. That way if the electricity has been disconnected prior to you moving in you can have it reconnected before you take possession.

If you have been living in your property for some time then you are able to switch your current provider to get a cheaper deal on your bills. There are usually multiple deals available from various companies
